I visited All Oddball Aquatics in Pittsburgh, PA today for the first time. It was fantastic! A trip to a specialty store that focuses primarily on aquatics is always a welcome change from the typical mainstream stores like PetSmart and PetCo.

Walking into the store/hatchery is like stepping into the fishroom of my dreams, rows and rows of tanks stocked with all sorts of fish fill the main area of the building. Their plant selection was a little small but the diversity and quality of the plants they carried more than made up for it. I picked up some beautiful Blyxa Japonica and a few test kits. Near the register there is a gorgeous planted tank that included, among other things, two huge bushes of Ludwigia Inclinata var Verticillata (Cuba). I have been searching for somewhere online to order this plant for months and this was actually the first time I’ve seem the plant in person. Although they do not sell the plant they were generous enough to give me a huge healthy stem (photo above) that’s about 14 inches tall and in fantastic condition!

The Ludwigia Inclinata and the Blyxa both went into the 55 gallon. I also put two of the small Blyxa plants in the Grass tank to see how they do in other lighting conditions.

Needless to say, I will be making regular visits to All Oddball Aquatics in the future.
