Fishumentaryâ„¢

About a week ago (9 Feb) I purchased 2 Dalmatian Mollies from the local PetCo at the request of my wife to go in the 10 gallon tank. If they were for any other tank I would have said objected but the 10 gallon is a bit like the Island of Misfit Toys; for whatever reason most of the fish that cannot cope with life in the larger tanks end up here. The two that she liked were female, one was mostly black and the other was mostly white. At this point I should have been having flashbacks of the hundreds of Platies that I ended up with a few years back. But, I was probably distracted by my own fish selections that evening and the thought that one, or both of the females could be pregnant did not enter my mind.

Sure enough, 3 days later we had about 20 surprisingly large fry darting around the aquarium. The mostly black female was pregnant.

I added 6 Golden White Cloud Mountain Minnows that I picked up at Wet Pets to the 55 gallon tank.

I got several Penthorum Sedoides stems from Tim at All Oddball Aquatics on Saturday. I haven’t had time to do too much research on it yet. For now I’ve planted the stems in the 55 gallon tank.

Above is a photo of the 55 gallon tank 1 week after trimming the Ammania. It took a few days but new leaves have started growing.
